Movie Marathon Invitations + Mailer
The Shepherdstown Opera House will be hosting a six day long Wes Anderson movie marathon August 1st–6th, 2016, showcasing some of his best films in chronological order. To promote this event, the Opera House needed a logo for the movie marathon as well as mailable promotional movie cards and tickets. The logo design incorporates both the essence of Shepherdstown and the concept of film. The “eye of Shepherdstown”, an icon that can be found both on the library as well as the sign coming into town, is featured at the top and is combined with a film reel to mesh the two ideas into a cohesive circle. As for the cards, the format is based upon Tarot cards and the illustrations are in a loose, watercolor Art Nouveau style to elicit the whimsical tone of Anderson’s films. The mailer is designed to open up like book, with all the contents belly-banded together with the VIP pass attached on top. The card’s envelope features die-cuts, creating little windows to the artful cards below.
